Grounded in African values and the spirit of “I am because we are,” this program nurtures identity, builds emotional wellness, and strengthens protective factors for youth navigating life in the U.S. Through group mentorship, storytelling, and cultural affirmation, young people are equipped to thrive—not just survive—in their schools and communities.

Systems change begins with understanding.
Our Cultural Training for Institutions program educates schools, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and law enforcement on how to serve African immigrant communities with dignity, equity, and respect. We turn stories into strategies—equipping institutions to listen better and do better.
The training series, “Serving African Immigrants with Dignity,” includes youth and parent panels, culturally informed communication strategies, and policy consultations tailored to each institution. By centering community voices in these trainings, we reduce miscommunication, implicit bias, and service gaps. The result: stronger partnerships between systems and communities, and better access and outcomes for African immigrant families.
When African immigrants tell their own stories, they reclaim power. At AFRISOTA, we believe storytelling is not just cultural—it’s political. Each shared journey of migration, resilience, and hope pushes back against stereotypes and builds empathy across communities. Our stories preserve memory, affirm identity, and lay the groundwork for justice.
Investing in our youth is investing in the future of our communities. Through Ubuntu Youth Circles, we cultivate confident, culturally grounded leaders who are equipped to navigate systems, advocate for change, and uplift others. One empowered young person can spark a chain of transformation that lasts for generations.
Healthy families are the backbone of thriving communities. Our Ubuntu Family & Community Circles provide culturally safe spaces for healing, parenting support, and system navigation—ensuring families stay connected, informed, and resilient. Stronger families lead to safer, more unified neighborhoods.
Systemic change begins with cultural understanding and cultural humility. Through our advocacy and training work, we challenge institutions to serve African immigrants with respect, equity, and humility. Each school, clinic, and agency that listens and learns becomes a more just space—one less barrier for our people to climb.
